for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Righteousness - the Greek word dike (dee kay) meaning justice and conformance to established standards.
2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
We are the justice of God. We are God's greatest glory and His greatest joy. We are the fruit of His victory over the enemy.
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
We are His Ambassadors. Ministers of reconciliation. We are the justice of God bringing others into this justice.
We have been made righteous...just. From that position we walk in the ways of the Kingdom, the established standards. There is nothing that we have to do to be righteous. He made us to become His righteousness. The old is gone and the new has come. God doesn't see the old any longer. He sees you as His righteousness/His justice. From that position, as a beloved son/daughter, unconditionally loved by the Father- we do the works of righteousness and walk in the ways of the Kingdom (established standards).
You cannot earn righteousness, it is given. You cannot do righteous acts to earn your righteousness or keep it. Rather righteousness, which is a free gift, infuses you with grace to do the works of righteousness to bring peace and joy to others.
